Littletown went into this game looking for their first win of the season in Division 3.
This was a game which could of gone either way as both teams were evenly contested. Both teams fought and battled hard and it was Ryburn who took the lead with a stroke of luck with a deflected shot that came of the head of Finlay Kettlewell and went into the bottom right hand corner. There was nothing the keeper or anyone could do about it. Ryburn went into halftime 1-0 up.
The second half started just like the first half did with both teams cancelling each other out. It was Ryburn who nearly took a 2 goal lead after Littletown Cain Jones passed back to GK Mason Bint who let the ball roll under his feet and nearly went over the line! Bint redeemed himself very quickly and managed to clear it off the line before the Ryburn striker got his foot to it.
Then with literally 30 seconds of the game to go Littletown were pushing for the equaliser and were denied a clear cut penalty after the Ryburn defender clearly handled the ball stopping a shot from the Littletown midfielder! The referee waved play on then blew for the full time whistle!
A great display from all the lads today, they were on it right from the off, to the final whistle and was very unlucky not to get anything out of the game.
Man of the match for Littletown went to Finlay Kettlewell who filled in in the absence of Cameron Unsworth in the centre of defence.
We now wait for the Government to say when grassroots football can come back again after yesterday’s announcement!
