Cup Crazy October Continues
Looking to Return to Winning Ways
After last weeks disappointing away day trip in Oldham, the first team return to Yorkshire for their next cup game, against an opponent we're familiar with, Drighlington. This game will be the first round of the Terry Marfitt Trophy, a competition we have a lot of confidence that we can perform well and go far in.
Drighlington compete in the Supreme Division along with our first team, but haven't enjoyed the same start to the season that we have, and has been shown in some cricket scorelines they've been on the wrong end of, most notably a 13-0 home defeat to high-flyers Stanley United. Drighlington have displayed they do have capability to win games this season, defeating Lower Hopton 4-1 in the seasons' opening fixture. They've also taken a point from both 8th placed Toller and 6th placed Route One, showing they have some capability to pick up good results.
Following last weeks disapointing defeat at the hands of Springhead, a return to more familiar surroundings for the first team is something that Jonny Ginnelly's side will appreciate and welcome. And as far as recent results and the league table will suggest, they couldn't have had a better opponent to return to winning ways against. Knowing our own record against the rest of the YAL's teams, we've displayed a capability to not only score goals, but also keep clean sheets, so there is a lot to be confident about for the first team heading into this weekends fixture.
A lot of optimism surrounds this game from a Littletown perspective, but given this is a cup competition, anything can happen, so we're expecting an exciting game of football. All support for our first team will be appreciated as they look to make last weekends result a distant memory.
