Littletown back in Wheatley Cup

Away Day against Morley Town

After Drighlington Reserves pulled out of the tournament, Littletown were given a free pass to the Wheatley Cup's 2nd round, and it will see them come against the YAL Premier Division side, Morley Town.

Morley Town in the previous round defeated Howden Clough in a closely fought match 6-5, which displays their capability to score plenty of goals and bounce back from conceding. This weekend will be their 2nd consecutive cup game, having played in the Terry Marfitt Trophy last weekend and winning their game 3-1. This cup success has been much different to their league form, as they sit second from bottom after 4 games, losing 3 of these.

The first team will need to be at their best for this game, regardless of the league form from Morley, we expect a tough game and an entertaining one too. However, the players will be feeling confident ahead of the game, having won on their last outing against Steeton Reserves in the Supreme Division, and moved back into 3rd place. Another reason for our first team to be confident is that we're more than a match in terms of scoring goals, but can also boast having one of the best defences in the YAL's top flight.

The Wheatley Cup is a tournament Littletown have seen numerous successes in over the years, winning the cup on 8 different occasions, and finally being back to it after being last seasons runners-up is an exciting prospect and the team will be fired up to win the cup for the 9th time. All support for the lads as they look to progress in another cup competition would be greatly appreciated by the squad.
