Steeton Reserves come to Beck Lane
With 3 wins from the last 3 in November, the 1st Team have pushed on to 2nd in the YAL Supreme Division table, and will have the chance to consolidate this position with a home fixture against one of the sides we have already beaten this month, Steeton Reserves.
Steeton Reserves haven't started the season as well as they'd have hoped, only recording 4 points in their opening 10 games. However, the table doesn't tell the full story, as they haven't been on the end of a very heavy defeat as often as most would think. Although they've not kept a clean sheet, they've only failed to score in two league games this season, proving they've got the ability to hurt teams. Their last outing was their 5-3 home loss to our first team on the 9th November, as their games from the last two weeks have been postponed, so this defeat will be relatively fresh in their memories.
The 1st Team have made a much better start to the season, claiming 21 points in nine games. They'll also be going into this game off the back of a 100% record for November in both league and cup competitions, recording 3 wins from 3 games and scoring 10 goals. Something that may give the team confidence ahead of the game will be the fact half of these 10 goals were scored against their opponents for this weekend, so they'll know they can really damage Steeton in front of goal, and with one of the best defensive records in the league, so they will also be able to defend well enough to keep their opponents out.
With a chance to close the gap on leaders Farsley, and an opposition who'll field a promising squad of young players, an exciting fixture is set to be played at Beck Lane tomorrow. All support for the lads as they look to complete a double over an opposition for the first time this season will be much appreciated.
